Zero Carbon House Update (3). Plus workshop 12 Feb 2009.

Jan 5th, 2009 by Chris Duggan (GreeninBrum) | 0

Work continues at the site, with a curious curved wall extending the house southwards, using compressed earth blocks. These unfired clay blocks use waste clay which is too earthy to make into bricks, and they have very low embodied energy.

www.zerocarbonhub.org, “established to make Zero Carbon homes a reality from 2016″, promises “a series of workshops across England in February 2009 to explain the definition and outline the likely changes it will have on the house-building industry”, including one in Birmingham on February 12th.

We would love to hear of any other energy-saving building projects in Birmingham - add a comment or contact us.
